One step closer...

We found out today that the interview with Eli's birth mother was completed today by the Family Court social worker. Our adoption coordinator also said that the social worker requested to see the DNA results. We are not sure what that means other than the social worker wants to confirm that the DNA matched. Hopefully, there isn't a problem and the social worker just wants to be thorough. I am discovering very quickly, however, that there is always something to worry about with this process! The next step is the social worker will complete his/her report and submit it for approval from the Family Court judge.

In the meantime, our trip is getting closer! We can't wait to get our hands on Eli and spend some quality bonding time with him for a week. As excited as we are, we are also trying to prepare ourselves for the fact that he is not coming home with us after this trip and we have to hand him back to his foster mother at the end of our visit. How do we prepare for this? This just may be the hardest thing we have to do. But, we are so blessed to have the opportunity to spend this precious time with him and, no matter how hard it will be to hand him back, it will all be worth it.

  2. Steph, Giving Eli back will be the hardest thing you will ever have to do...until he comes home and you have to let them give him shots, and you have to leave him with a babysitter, and you have to watch him get on the bus for the first time....the list goes on...Enjoy every moment on your visit trip. Take LOTS of pictures and kiss your little guy to pieces. It is such a wonderful opportunity to be able to visit. I'm sorry I will just miss you guys:( Have a great trip!

  3. I am just so excited for you both. I just can't imagine what is going through your heads. When you are on your visit, just remember you are one step closer to bringing him home. It'll happen so fast, you'll look back and say "wow, where did the time go". You both are meant to be parents, there are just too many "signs" that say so! I know that my boys love you both (and Quarter, lol) I have always wanted this for you! Take many pictures and give loads of kisses from Aunt Misty! The boy are very excited also, Toby is still trying to figure out how to raise more $ for you all!! Where there's a will, there's a way!

    Be safe, love you all,
    XOXOXOX
