Well, it's a very sad night in the Shank household. We received news today that there is a mistake on Eli's birth certificate and it will take 2-3 months to make the correction. Our attorney discovered the error before submitting us to PGN. It's great that he caught it before the reviewers, but.......we are so heartbroken with this news. We were hoping to be OUT of PGN in 2-3 months. So, I wasn't kidding when I said Guatemalan adoptions are unpredictable! All we can do at this point is hope that it gets fixed quickly and that we catch a break once we are finally submitted to PGN.
On a lighter note, our Signature HomeStyles party was a HUGE success!! We don't have the final amount that will be donated to our adoption fund, but it is at least $600!! So, despite some bad news today, we have much to be thankful for.
Oh I am so sorry to hear about Eli's birthcertificate! I really hope it will be fixed sooner than they expect and then you can be on your way to PGN. Thinking of you guys. Guatemala adoption is not an easy way to become parents and I will smack the next person that tries to tell me that. Hang in there.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry that you hit this bump in the road, but you're right that it's good they caught it when they did. I'll also be hoping for a speedy Eli delivery. Hang in there and come visit us soon!
ReplyDeleteI'm just so bummed to hear this news about the birth certificate. Do you know what needs to be fixed and why it takes so long?? My heart just breaks for you, but your optimistic outlook is an inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteHang in there. ((hugs))
Steph, I'm so sorry to hear about this delay. I pray that it can be taken care of faster than that.

Oh Steph! How discouraging. I know how disappointed you and your husband must be. I will pray for you and your family that this can be resolved much quicker than a few months. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteSteph & Jason: UGH!!!! I am screaming inside and out!!!! Do whatever you need to do to get through this-CHOOSE whatever helps--you WILL get through this. I wish there was something I could do-my shoulders just aren't BIG enough to make it all better but they are still there to help if you need them. Love to you always
