Lake Atitlan

Not only did we have the opportunity to explore Antigua during our pick-up trip, but also Lake Atitlan. We spent a weekend in Panajachel and took a boat tour of some of the small villages surrounding the lake. This was my second trip to the lake (visited in college) and it was just as beautiful this time and even more special because I was able to share it with my family. The rainy season was just beginning so the lake was very hazy and it was rainy most of the time we were there. Luckily, the rain and haze lifted during our boat tour! We had such a grea time and the staff at our hotel were incredible!! They were so nice and they adored Eli! Not to mention the coffee at the hotel was THE BEST!! Oh, I am definitely ready to go back! Here are a few pics. Again...enjoy!

  2. Oh it is so beautiful!! I miss it SO much!!!

It's cool that the boys are old enough to start understanding things. I brought Jadon over to see pictures of Guatemala and we talked about it.

Eli is so big now compared to then!

  4. Love this! If I get to go back in December we'll be in Panajachel the whole trip. We didn't get to go to the Lake on our other trips, so I would LOVE to go--thanks for sharing!

  6. Thanks, Steph.

Once I finished watching this, I just hit play again... it's (lake Atilana and ALL of Guate) a magical place that has touched so many of our hearts... it's so important (and emotional!) to "go back" through these images. Thank you!

I am feeling the tug so many of us seem to be feeling lately... go back, go back, go back... I am just tearful looking at these images... remembering all that it meant for your family, our family, and now what our children will know of the amazing country they were born in. (gush, gush.... )
