So, the only thing that came up at the appointment is Eli has LICE!!!!!!!!!!!! YUCK!!!! The doctor suspects that he probably came home with it from Guatemala. How did we miss this???? Well, there were signs, but none of them were out of the ordinary for him. He has always scratched his head when he is sleepy, ever since he was a teeny tiny pea, so we did not think anything about his headscratching. We also noticed, though, that he had some "dandruff", but we assumed it was from the headscratching and his dry skin. Sigh...poor little guy! I can't imagine where he would have picked it up at home because he has not been around very many kids and we have been spending most of our time at home. So, who knows how long he has been infected. Blech!!! And, given the fact we have all be cosleeping up until very recently, it is no suprise that this momma also has lice. DOUBLE YUCK!!!! So, we spent last night and today treating our heads, cutting out nits, and doing loads of laundry.
And, to top it all off, Eli developed a really awful croupy sounding cough yesterday. So, we enjoyed our short little respite last week! All we can do is just laugh while we are cutting out nits and giving our washing machine a good workout. We really hit the ground running, didn't we?!?!
Daddy on the hunt for nits.
OH YUCK YUCK!!! I'm sorry that Eli brought friends with him. You guys are on parent fast forward. Lice already and he isn't even in school yet. HA I hope you are critter free asap.
ReplyDeleteLice, oh no! Glad they found it though so you can "nit" it in the bud. Ok, I couldn't resist. Sorry. Eli is big! Kate is big as well at 13 months she is 21 pounds, 13 ounces and 30 inches.
ReplyDeleteOH, Steph, I feel your pain! Abby came home with head lice and though I found it on my own...(nothing like cuddling with your baby and seeing bugs crawling in her hair!)...it was too late and this momma had it too. The clean up is awful and I really feel for you. Glad you guys can keep your sense of humor through all this! That's a key ingredient to being a great parent! Oh, glad the rest of the eval went well;0)
ReplyDeleteWOW!! You are getting some serious hazing into parenthood!!! GEEEZZ. That is just YUCK!! It must be a nightmare with your curly hair.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you on the getting sick thing. Reese got sick every 3 days when he came home. It was so hard. My ped. told us it takes a year to build an immune stystem for the new country (didn't tell you that to depress you further). It has been pretty true for Reese. He still gets sick quite a bit, but less than he did. So, I can understand how draining the sick all the time thing feels.
I hope his croup isn't too bad. Hope your washing machine is up for the challenge. AHHHHHHH ITCHING!!!!
Oh Dear!!!! I bet y'all look like a bunch a monkeys'. LOL Lice is awful buit it could be alot worse so you just have to laugh about it!!!Sending hugs your way :)
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way Eli's Stats are AWESOME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Steph. I can't believe all the "excitement" you've had since returning home. Well, you know they say that parenting isn't for wimps! :) I'm glad you had a nice week last week to rejuvenate for the next big challenge.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you took it all in stride - what a great mama!
ReplyDeleteOH NO! Yuck. I'm so sorry you have to deal with lice. Hope they are out of the house soon. That is great he is doing so well apart from that!
